Maria Chiodo, MA, LMHC
Maria Chiodo is Clinical Director at Unity Recovery in Hobe Sound, FL. Maria completed her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy and has almost 20 years of experience working with clients diagnosed with chemical dependency and mental health issues. Maria is trained in trauma resolution, brief solution focused therapy, brief strategic family therapy and is a specialist in working with infants born to mothers with chemical dependency. Maria has vast management experience with community mental health centers both locally and in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Her rich skill set in management allows Unity to provide the best clinical experience for the clients overall. Maria is also a Qualified Supervisor for the state of Florida.

Michael has personal connection in the recovery field. Michael has several years of experience in the treatment field. He is focused on helping to maintain the high quality of care while ensuring the client satisfaction. Michael combines a passion to help those in need with a commitment to get the job done to his work at Unity Recovery Center . Michael has dedicated his life and career to helping others. “I get great pleasure and satisfaction in watching people’s lives transform from hopelessness to absolute joy”.
Abbey Danneman, MSW RCSWI
Abbey Danneman earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from Barry University in Miami Florida. Abbey has specialized in working with Co-Occurring Disorders including Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Eating Disorders, Depressive Disorders, along with the Substance induced related disorder.
Abbey has experience working in Psychiatric Detoxification Hospitals, Residential Treatment Centers, Community Mental Health Shelters For Abused Woman and Children, Outpatient Treatment Centers and Behavioral Schools.
Early in her career, Abbey identified the field of addiction and mental illness as a special interest. She has experience working with all populations.
Abbey has extensive group therapy experience including topics such as the disease of addiction, anger management, healthy coping skills, psychiatric issues, life skills, co-dependency, family dynamics, grief and loss, mindfulness, healthy vs. toxic relationships, relapse prevention, trauma, and stress management.
Abbey has facilitated family support groups educating them of the disease of addiction and preventing enabling behaviors. Abbey is currently working on obtaining her Clinical Social Work Licensure with the State of Florida. She takes personal interest in every person she meets.
Cathleen Wallen Beauseigneur, LCSW, CAP, ICADC
Cathleen is originally from Buffalo, New York and has nearly twenty years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependence programs. She completed a Masters Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Drugs and Alcohol in 1997 at the State University of New York at Buffalo and was elected to Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addiction Professional, and an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Additionally, she is a Licensed Qualified Supervisor for mental health and social work students and registered interns.
Christen has been working in the addictions field, as a substance abuse counselor for 2 years. Prior to completing her Master’s degree in mental health counseling at Lynn University in 2011, she worked as a behavioral health technician at the Watershed, where she completed her clinical practicum and internship. Christen obtained her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lynn University in 2007. She has worked in the addictions field for 6 years. Christen has a humanistic counseling orientation, and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy interventions, poetry narrative therapy, and psychodrama.
Deborah has been working in the field of addictions for the past 3 years. Additionally, she has over 25 years of business experience in the field of early childhood education. Deborah graduated with her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from James Madison University. In the past three years, she has worked as a Case Manager, Primary Therapist and Director of an Intensive Outpatient Program. She has presented workshops at several state and national conferences about using mindfulness and emotional regulation to manage stress and using the arts as motivation in recovery. Deborah believes that using the arts is a valuable tool to help client’s express themselves and to process their emotions. She brings a unique blend of experiential, motivational and cognitive behavior therapies to her work to help the client find the strength to make the necessary life changes for a long term recovery.
Heather Morehouse earned her Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Substance Abuse at Springfield University. Her area of research is Equine Assisted Psycho Therapy working with horses and clients in experiential therapy. She has worked with Unity Recovery for 2 years. She has been involved in a 12 Step Program for over 20 years being part of the recovery community in New York and Florida. Her philosophy revolves around body, mind and spirit and is a solution centered therapist.
Juliet Nwachukwu comes to Unity Recovery Center, Inc. with a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. Juliet is currently a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern with the state of Florida.
Juliet’s prior employment history includes working at South Bay Correctional Facility, an all-male prison in South Bay, FL. As a substance abuse counselor, Juliet provided therapeutic services to the men struggling with their addictive lifestyles. Before moving to Florida from New Jersey, Juliet worked at a mental health treatment program for adults living with moderate to severe mental health disorders. While working at this treatment center, Juliet learned the importance of tailoring therapeutic services to meet the individual needs of the clients.
Juliet strives to become a better clinician. She dedicates her time to learning new, innovative techniques/strategies to help clients discover healthier ways of living by managing life stressors. She is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMH) in the state of Florida.
Justin Baksh, BA
Justin Baksh recently graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. Justin is currently working towards his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University. Justin loves being in this field because of how rewarding it has been to help people with their journey towards recovery. Justin has a strong dedication to helping others which he accomplishes by using strategies of attention to detail, time management, and communication learned while enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Justin dedicates his time to ensure each client has all of their needs met by finding community resources tailored to their individual needs. Justin also ensures all of our clients have tangible and realistic aftercare plans and expectations.
And’rice Butler, B.S.
Alternative Therapy Coordinator
And’rice is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelors of Science in Public Health Education. And’rice provides Audio-Visual Stimulation and Biofeedback to those who are seeking alternative therapies in relieving anxiety, depression, pain, and sleep disturbances. She also coordinates with Unity Recovery Center’s Acupuncturist, Chiropractor, and Massage Therapist to incorporate a holistic journey to one’s recovery.
As a graduate student, And’rice plans to continue expanding her education in Mental Health Counseling with hopes of becoming an LMHC in the state of Florida.
Jason W. Lee
Mr. Lee, a Cum Laude graduate of the Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, has aspired to help people with a variety of conditions achieve the best outcomes possible. Because of his professional commitment to his clients, Mr. Lee is now pursuing his Masters Degree at Nova Southeastern University, one of the nation’s top Psychology programmes. A caring, hardworking and committed member of the staff, Mr. Lee comes highly recommended.
Marisa LaRusso graduated from Fordham University in Bronx, NY with a BA degree in sociology. She brings to Unity Recovery over 10 years experience working as a case manager with the substance abuse, mental health, homeless, and special needs populations. She enjoys assisting individuals in accessing all possible resources that will help them achieve their full potential and support their wellbeing.
